BLYN — An Oregon woman sustained facial injuries when her Subaru Forester was broadsided by a Dodge Caravan on Wednesday.
Laurel Anne Hermanson, 42, of Portland, Ore., was transported to Olympic Medical Center after a 1:21 p.m. two-car wreck that snarled traffic on U.S. Highway 101, a mile west of the 7 Cedars Casino at Blyn.
The wreck blocked both lanes of traffic at Milepost 270 until about 2 p.m., when one lane was cleared for alternating traffic, the state Department of Transportation said. The highway was fully cleared by 2:20 p.m.
Hermanson’s condition was undetermined at the Port Angeles hospital as of Wednesday evening, an OMC spokesman said.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan — Donna Lois Potswald, 81, of Sequim — was not injured in the wreck.
Crossed center line
Potswald was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 101 when she crossed the center line and struck the side of Hermanson’s vehicle, the State Patrol said.
After impact, Hermanson’s vehicle spun around and came to a rest in the eastbound ditch.
Potswald continued westbound and pulled over to the shoulder. She was cited for driving over the center line, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles were destroyed, the State Patrol said, and were towed away.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
No drugs or alcohol were involved.
