PORT ANGELES — The final 2005 budget for Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1’s electric department includes no customer rate increases for the second straight year despite a slight increase in spending for wholesale electricity purchases.
PUD commissioners approved the spending plan by a 2-0 vote at its Monday meeting. Commissioner Hugh Haffner was absent.
Treasurer Shelley Burgett presented the $58.5 million electricity department budget to the commissioners on Monday.
It includes a $16 million beginning balance, plus revenues projecting $38.6 million from electricity sales, $1 million in other operating income, $380,000 in capital improvement funds and $1.4 million in revenue bond funds.
Projected expenses total $45.9 million, including $20.4 million in electricity purchases; $8.9 million in salaries and wages; $7.9 million in materials, supplies and services; $2.6 million in administrative costs; $2.5 million in taxes; and $1.3 million in debt service.
