PORT TOWNSEND — The School Board has 22 candidates to replace the retiring Carol Andreasen as superintendent of the Port Townsend School District, directors said Monday night.
Gay Selby, a Kelso-based search consultant hired by the board, has compiled a file of applicants from around the state.
Andreasen will retire at the end of this school year, her sixth as the district’s top administrator.
Some board members were surprised by the number of applicants, said board Chairman Loren Monroe.
The next step will be to narrow down the list to between four and six candidates, Monroe said.
Announcement in March
As planned, he said, the board will interview the finalists March 4-5, then announce its selection by March 28.
