6.3 percent of Clallam primary ballots returned

According to Clallam County Auditor Cathleen McKeown, 1,403 primary ballots out 22,235 mailed on Aug. 31 had been returned as of Tuesday, or 6.31 percent.

Clallam County voters have until Sept. 20 to return their primary ballots to the county auditor’s office.

Primary races in Clallam County include the Port Angeles City Council race among incumbent Larry Williams and challengers Cherie Kidd and Peter Ripley and the Port Angeles School Board race among incumbent Nancy McLaughlin and challengers Richard Johnston and Melanie Piper-Royce.

There are also primary races for Fire Protection District No. 4 among Cindy Bryant, Donna Kay Buck and William Lee, and for Quillayute Valley School District among Tony Dias, Sue Gibbs and Rick Gale.

Top two vote-getters in the primary move on to the Nov. 8 general election.
