SEQUIM — A 6-year-old Sekiu girl was no longer listed on the patient roster at Olympic Medical Center on Saturday after she was transported there with injuries suffered in a two-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 4 miles west of Sequim on Friday night.
Amanda N. King, 30, of Sekiu was driving a black 2011 Nissan Versa east on U.S. Highway 101 at 10:51 p.m. Friday with 6-year-old Brooke L. King in the car when a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by 70-year-old Carrol T. Peter of Phenix City, Ala., stopped in front of King at the intersection of Highway 101 and Dryke Road, the State Patrol said.
King was distracted by her passenger and took her eyes off the road, the State Patrol said, and ran into the rear of Peter’s truck.
Brooke King was taken to OMC, while neither Peter nor Amanda King was injured, the State Patrol said.
The Nissan was destroyed and towed from the scene, the State Patrol said, while Peter was able to drive the truck away.
The State Patrol said a citation for King for driving too fast for conditions was pending.
Both drivers and the lone passenger were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
