PORT ANGELES — A pump station failure has caused 91,600 gallons of untreated sewage to spill into Port Angeles Harbor.
The city attributes a malfunctioning electrical feed to the pump station as the cause.
The failure occurred at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, and power is expected to be restored late this afternoon.
Sewage overflows are nothing new to the harbor.
Heavy rainfall causes 32 million gallons of untreated sewage and storm water on average to overflow each year.
The city is conducting a $40 million project to solve the problem.
