Like millions of other Americans, Jefferson County Commissioner Pat Rodgers mourned former President Reagan.
Rodgers was director of planning and analysis for the U.S. General Services Administration when Reagan was inaugurated in January 1981.
“I felt quite heavy-hearted this weekend,”‘ Rodgers said at the start of Monday’s county commissioners meeting in Port Townsend.
“There was a dramatic change when he took office,” Rodgers said of the attitude toward government when Reagan started his first of two presidential terms.
“It was not a happy time,” Rodgers, R-Brinnon, said of the Carter administration, which had been under considerable public criticism.
