PORT ANGELES — A blue Ford pickup truck found abandoned in a roadside ditch along Tumwater Truck Route last week had been reported stolen, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were investigating Friday how the truck ended up on its side along the truck route, where it was discovered at about 6:35 a.m. that morning, Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron said.
Minor traffic delays occurred along the truck route while a tow truck from Port Angeles-based Chris’ Towing Service removed the pickup truck, said Brian Smith, Port Angeles deputy police chief.
“There was some disruption of traffic to get the vehicle up and off the side of the road,” Smith said.
Cameron said sheriff’s deputies contacted the registered owner of the pickup truck, who said it had been stolen from his home along Lauridsen Boulevard.
The pickup truck was impounded Friday.
State Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman, said the truck had at least $700 worth of damage done to it from its trip into the roadside ditch.
