PORT ANGELES — Nathan Eugene Hipsher’s trial for second-degree murder is scheduled to start Feb. 28 in Clallam County Superior Court. A status hearing is set for Feb. 4.
Hipsher, 25, has pleaded not guilty to the charge that stems from the Dec. 14 death of his girlfriend, Amber Rae Bulus-Steed.
Hipsher, who is represented by Terry Mulligan of Clallam-Jefferson Public Defenders, remains in jail on $1 million bail.
An autopsy determined Bulus-Steed died of homicidal violence. Authorities say it appears she was beaten in a Sequim motel room, then driven to the Port Angeles-area home where she lived with Hipsher and his parents. Her 1- and 3-year-old daughters were inside the car.
They are now living with their father.
