ACTI awarded contract with Bombardier Aerospace, plans to add 50 jobs

PORT ANGELES — Angeles Composite Technologies, Inc., has been awarded a contract with Bombardier Aerospace that will mean the company adds 50 jobs over the next year.

The contract, which is for the life of the program, is for building wing-to-body assemblies and cabin, air, stair composite panels for the Q400 regional aircraft.

The contract translates to revenue of $190,000,000 over the next 10 years, said Michael Rauch, CEO of ACTI in a prepared statement.

“This is exciting news for our company, for the city of Port Angeles, and for the entire Olympic Peninsula,” Rauch said.

ACTI will now produce not only the structural detail, but will also fully assemble and equip larger and more prominent assemblies to be shipped to Bombardier’s assembly line in Belfast, Northern Ireland and to China, Toronto and Montreal, Rauch said.

“We are excited about this opportunity,” he said.

“This contract is a major step in fulfilling our strategic plan for growth and proves to the entire aerospace industry that we are ready and willing to support our customers with added-value capabilities,” he added.

“It also features our global presence in the industry which is a great accomplishment for a small business based in Port Angeles.”

In 2009 ACTI won the Nunn-Perry award given annually to the most successful small business completing the rigorous Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé program.

ACTI teamed with mentor Lockheed Martin, and is now a qualified supplier of composite structure for the F-22 and F-35 programs.

In December of 2010, ACTI announced the expansion of its business in Port Angeles.
