AGNEW — Fairview Water System users could face monthly rate increases to pay for a new water filtration plant.
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners must decide what to do with the water system’s aging 31-year-old filtration plant.
Replacement costs range from estimated $1.5 million to $1.8 million, depending upon filtration method.
That could mean a rate increase from 12 percent to 37 percent, officials said.
Utility commissioners will receive more cost estimates next week, then decide if they have enough information to go to bid, said Michael McInnes, utility general manager.
