Anonymous donor pays for strangulation victim’s headstone

PORT ANGELES — The Pimentel family won’t have to sell their car after all.

Henry Pimentel said a man who wishes to remain anonymous has pledged to cover the cost of a headstone for his daughter, 27-year-old Jennifer Pimentel, who was strangled to death in October.

Tammy Pimentel, his wife and Jennifer’s stepmother, was seeking to sell her car to cover the cost of a tombstone.

But after a report about it ran in the Peninsula Daily News on Friday, Henry said they received about 50 phone calls from people wanting to help the family, including one from the donor.

“It’s just amazing, the community that we live in,” he said.

Tammy said she was looking for about $4,000 to cover the cost of the headstone, but Henry said Saturday they can probably settle for around $850.

If the family receives more than it needs, Henry said they may use the additional funds to assist Penny Huether.

Penny Huether is the mother of Jennifer’s friend, Kendell Huether. Kendell has been charged in connection with the murder.

Penny Huether’s home was destroyed in a fire Oct. 23, and Henry said the woman, whom he called a family friend, is still in need.

Kendell Huether, 25, has been charged with first-degree rendering criminal assistance for allegedly helping her boyfriend, Kevin A. Bradfield, dispose of the body in the woods.

Additional charges of two counts of witness tampering may also be filed.

Bradfield, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly strangling Jennifer, who was developmentally disabled, to death.

Jennifer’s grave at Ocean View Cemetery had been unmarked since she was buried Oct. 29.

At Tammy’s request, the city-owned cemetery placed a temporary marker at her grave last week.

For those who still wish to donate to the Pimentels, a memorial fund remains active at Strait-View Credit Union in Port Angeles.
