Applications open for Jefferson County Board of Health

PORT TOWNSEND — The Board of Jefferson County Commissioners is accepting applications for the county’s Board of Health until 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The board is looking for applicants who are consumers of public health, which consists of “county residents who have self-identified as having faced significant health inequities or as having lived experiences with public health-related programs.”

The board of health meets from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month; members are appointed for three-year terms.

The board shapes policy that governs Jefferson County Public Health’s programs and services.

• Potential conflicts of interest.

• The applicant’s demonstrated commitment to public health.

• Recommendations from current Board of Health members.

• The applicant’s diversity of expertise and lived experience.

• Whether the applicant represents the geographic diversity of the community.

• Whether the applicant identifies with a historically underrepresented community.
