Applications open for Jefferson County Board of Health

PORT TOWNSEND — The Board of Jefferson County Commissioners is accepting applications for the county’s Board of Health until 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The board is looking for applicants who are consumers of public health, which consists of “county residents who have self-identified as having faced significant health inequities or as having lived experiences with public health-related programs.”

The board of health meets from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month; members are appointed for three-year terms.

The board shapes policy that governs Jefferson County Public Health’s programs and services.

Applicants who meet the qualifications for a consumer of public health also will be evaluated on the following factors:

• Potential conflicts of interest.

• The applicant’s demonstrated commitment to public health.

• Recommendations from current Board of Health members.

• The applicant’s diversity of expertise and lived experience.

• Whether the applicant represents the geographic diversity of the community.

• Whether the applicant identifies with a historically underrepresented community.

Application forms are available at Public Health, 615 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, at the commissioners’ office at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., or online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/formcenter/public-health-7/board-of-health-expansion-application-87.
