CHIMACUM — There were only two contestants, and Ashlee Nollette, right in the photo, was crowned queen for the 75th annual celebration of the Rhododendron Festival on Saturday night.
Princess is Teslin LeMaster. Both are juniors at Port Townsend High School.
The two are shown standing on the stage at the Tri-Area Community Center in Chimacum just a moment after they were announced as the royalty.
Two other candidates dropped out, said Rita Hubbard, the festival’s parade chairwoman for 2010.
Queen Ashlee and Princess Teslin will ride the festival float and attend between 10 to 14 parades and festivals in Washington state and Oregon.
The 75th Rhododendron Festival will begin May 10 and culminate with the Grand Parade on May 15. The theme is Diamond Celebration.
