FORKS — The Quillayute Valley Park and Recreation District was given a clean bill of financial health by the state Auditor’s Office.
The district’s revenues totaled about $500,000 for fiscal year 2004, which prompted the state to financially audit the district for the first time since it was established in 1978.
Although annual assessment audits on the district were performed by the state in past years, revenues exceeding $200,000 require an accountability audit.
District areas examined for accountability were in cash receipting and the purchase of goods and services.
The district also was found to be compliant with state and local laws and regulations in nine different areas.
Those areas include deposit and investment of public funds, Open Public Meetings Act, budgeting requirements, conflict of interest laws, competitive bidding requirements, public works contracts, debt limitation and allowable expenditures.
