SEQUIM — After exposing a pistol in a shoulder holster, a man reportedly in his 50s robbed a bank on the east side of Sequim on Wednesday morning and made off with thousands of dollars before disappearing into a nearby parking lot.
The man walked into Kitsap Bank, 990 E. Washington St., at about 11:20 a.m.
After the robbery, police believe he walked northbound into the parking lot for Big Lots in Bell Creek Plaza, where authorities lost his trail.
The suspect is described as being in his 50s, wearing a blue flannel shirt, tan or white baseball cap, light colored pants and clean shaven, and was not seen with a vehicle.
He is reportedly between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and has a medium build.
Fled with cash in hand
Initial reports from the scene said the man fled the bank with between $4,000 and $6,000 in cash in his hand.
There were no injuries to bank employees, said Sequim Police Sgt. Sheri Crain.
“They are a well-trained bunch,” she said.
Before demanding the cash, the man pulled back his left shirt tail to show the clerk a holstered pistol on his side, Crain said.
Crain said she did not know the caliber of the weapon.
