PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man who donned a ski mask and pulled a BB gun on his own housemates Friday was not cited for what city police described as a bad prank.
Police cars raced to the scene after reports of an armed robbery in progress at a residence just west of Fifth and Liberty streets at about 3:35 p.m.
Neighbors reported seeing a masked man enter the home with what appeared to be a shotgun, and hearing him shout “get down,” Port Angeles Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith said.
Officers formed a perimeter around the home and quickly determined that the weapon was a plastic BB gun.
“We had to make sure everybody was OK,” Smith said.
Smith said of the prankster was cooperative and “very embarrassed” about the incident.
The man told police that he would apologize to his neighbors for causing an alarm, Smith said.
