Where you can view Paddle Journey landings today and Tuesday:
Jamestown Beach
Today’s landing hosted by the Jamestown S’Klallam tribe will occur on tribal member Harriette Adams’ property on Jamestown Road.
Because the area is surrounded by private property, visitors must take a free shuttle from Helen Haller School, 350 W. Fir St., Sequim, because parking will not be available at Jamestown.
The first canoes are expected to arrive around 2 p.m., tidal and weather conditions permitting. The shuttles will start running about an hour before.
Port Angeles
Tuesday’s landing at Hollywood Beach, east of Port Angeles City Pier, will be hosted by the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe.
Lower Elwha canoe skipper Al Charles Jr. estimated that canoes from Jamestown will arrive between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Best vantage points are from City Pier and the Waterfront Trail east of the Red Lion Hotel.
Between 20 and 30 canoes will depart for Esquimalt, British Columbia, on Wednesday morning at a time yet to be determined. The pull across the Strait of Juan de Fuca is expected to take six hours.
