PORT ANGELES — The State Patrol Bomb Squad responded to the 2600 block of South Race Street on Sunday afternoon after people found blasting caps while cleaning out a garage, according to the Port Angeles Police Department.
Sgt. Kevin Miller said that it’s PAPD’s policy to involve the WSP Bomb Squad when explosives are found.
He said family members were cleaning out a relative’s garage when they found the blasting caps.
“When they were going through boxes, they found a box of blasting caps,” he said. “That’s not something we’re going to put in the trunks of our patrol car.”
Police had cleared the scene by about 4:15 p.m.
