The Puget Sound Blood Center is calling for more donors, saying that wintry weather has cut donations.
Donation centers and blood drives are operating at approximately 50 percent of normal capacity, the center said in a statement.
“Western Washington’s blood supply could reach critical levels in many blood groups,” the center said.
A blood group is labeled critical when it has less than a two-day supply. A four-day inventory is considered operational.
It takes more than 900 donor registrations every day to maintain an operational blood supply in Western Washington, the center said.
