Boat fire in Port Angeles

We are at the scene of a fire aboard a 70-foot boat in the yard at Platypus Marine Inc. on Cedar Street near Marine Drive in Port Angeles.

The name on the trawler’s stern indicated that the boat is La Rata Bastarda out of Seattle.

Platypus Marine is a repair company; the boat is in the boatyard for repair or maintenance work.

The outdoor fire in the boatyard is producing thick smoke — one witness described it as yellowish in color — and the Port Angeles Fire Department asked for additional units from Clallam County Fire District No. 2 to help fight it.

We will update with details as soon as possible. Please check back.
