PORT ANGELES — A crew from Seattle-based Global Diving & Salvage Inc. was on the way to assess the situation Wednesday after a 50-foot sailboat sank at Port Angeles Boat Haven on Tuesday night.
As of Wednesday morning, the cause of the sinking of the boat, the Fram, was undetermined.
Ron Holcomb, a hazardous material specialist with the state Department of Ecology, said 275 gallons or more of diesel fuel had been aboard and that the Port of Port Angeles was containing leakage with a floating boom.
The owner of the vessel, identified by the port as Timothy O’Brien, refused to comment about the incident.
