PORT ANGELES — The Coast Guard is searching for two boaters reported missing near Port Angeles today.
Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles received a call at 11 p.m. Friday from the wife of Brook Bennett stating that her husband and his friend, Rob Larsen, had left for a fishing trip at 5 p.m. and had not returned.
The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter from Ediz Hook, a small response boat from Station Port Angeles and the cutters Adelie and Wahoo, both based in Port Angeles.
The Canadian Coast Guard in Victoria also launched two cutters to assist in the search.
Both coast guards said they are searching a 200-square-mile area of the Strait of Juan de Fuca north of Ediz Hook.
Bennett and Larsen were reported to be fishing in a 14-foot blue and green skiff with a windshield.
