LAPUSH — A body was found in the Quillayute River near Leyendecker Park about 6 ½ miles east of LaPush this afternoon.
The body had not been identified by 5 p.m. today, according to Ron Cameron, chief criminal deputy with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Its discovery was reported at about 1 p.m. today.
“I’m not sure of any [other] details at this point,” Cameron said.
LaPush Police Chief Bill Lyon said his officers were at the site and had called in for help from the sheriff’s office.
“That’s all I know. There is a recovery of a body [going on] right now,” Lyon said at about 4:15 p.m.
Leyendecker Park lies near the junction of the Sol Duc and Bogachiel rivers, which combine with the Dickey River to form the Quillayute River.
