PORT ANGELES — The body of a 19-year-old man was discovered in a wooded lot Monday morning near Shane Park on the city’s west side, police said.
Port Angeles police would not identify the deceased because the next of kin had not been notified as of Monday evening.
The cause of death has not been determined. Port Angeles police have not ruled out suicide.
“We don’t suspect that anything happened out there that could be a threat to anybody else,” Port Angeles Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith said.
Smith said the body was found on private property on the 1400 block of West Eighth Street, which is near the park.
The body was turned over to the Clallam County coroner.
A citizen reported seeing the body at about 7:45 a.m.
Medics had difficulty finding the body when they arrived. It was unclear how long the man had been dead.
“I’m not aware that any resuscitation efforts were made at the scene,” Smith said.
