SEQUIM — A health advisory urging about eight Sequim water customers to boil their water has been lifted.
The customers were advised to boil their tap water after a water main break in the 800 block of East Washington Place on Thursday.
After the break was mended, water samples were taken and tested for contaminants that could have entered the water line when it lost pressure.
“The lab results are back,” said David Garlington, Public Works director, on Friday. “Everything’s clean. The boil order is lifted, and everything should be back to normal.”
The break, called in by a resident at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, was repaired by 9:45 a.m. and water was restored to affected customers early Thursday afternoon, Garlington said.
Tree roots growing around the water main broke into the pipe, he said. The tree was removed.
The state Department of Health had advised residents in the affected area to use boiled water or use purchased bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, dishwashing, preparing food and making ice.
