The State Patrol bomb squad detonated a suspicious device that was found at Aviation Place and South Airport Road.
State Patrol spokesperson Katherine Weatherwax said a caller advised Monday night that someone tried to light a fuse and it didn’t light in the roadway.
The suspect left in a Toyota Tacoma, Weatherwax wrote in a Tuesday email.
“Elwha (police department) were the first on scene and the officer observed a four-inch item wrapped in plastic,” Weatherwax said. “Our bomb tech arrived and recovered a cylindrical device wrapped in Saran wrap with a four-inch fuse (possibly fireworks). The device was placed in a ‘frag bag’ for destruction.”
“We get a lot of flare/firework calls,” she said. “It’s always labeled as a bomb call.”
