SEQUIM — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula raised $602,026 at a fundraising auction and dinner.
The funds will support the Boys & Girls Clubs’ critical programs and initiatives in the Port Angeles and Sequim communities.
The annual fundraiser drew more than 400 attendees to the clubs’ Carroll C. Kendall unit in Sequim on Saturday.
The evening’s theme was “I’ll Be There for You,” drawn from the hit TV series Friends.
The event featured performances by club youths, live and silent auctions, raffles and an orange sofa emplaced as a selfie station for guests to commemorate their evening.
“We are incredibly grateful to our generous donors, community partners and volunteers who made this night possible,” said Mary Budke, the clubs’ CEO. “The outpouring of support reflects the deep commitment our community has to ensuring a brighter future for our youth. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve together, and we’re excited to continue making a difference in the lives of local kids.”
The “Bids for Kids” paddle raise set a record, raising $393,514, thanks to a $100,000 matching gift from board member George Brown.
The 40 desserts, all donated by community bakers and local businesses in the Dessert Dash, raised $23,444. The top dessert sold for $3,000.
