UPDATE: Electrical power was restored to West End customers by 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Clallam Public Utility District.
The Bonneville Power Administration said that the cause was a tree in the agency’s powerline.
PORT ANGELES — A fault on a Bonneville Power Administration line cut power late Friday afternoon to at least 5,600 Clallam Public Utility District customers on the West End, said PUD spokesperson Nicole Hartman.
A BPA crew left Olympia about 4:15 p.m. and it’s about a two-hour trip to Port Angeles, she said.
The cause won’t be known until the fault is located but Clallam PUD is pinging the line to see if the fault can be located to speed up the process when the BPA crew arrives, Hartman said.
The outage appears to have occurred 30 to 40 miles from BPA’s Port Angeles substation by Peninsula College, she said.
