VICTORIA – Black Ball Ferry Line has eliminated the fuel surcharge for travelers on the MV Coho ferry between downtown Port Angeles and Victoria.
“Our intention has always been to remove the fuel surcharge for our customers as soon as we were able,” said Black Ball Ferry Line CEO Ryan Burles. “Our fuel costs have come down, and we are passing this on to our customers.”
Due to the rapidly rising cost of fuel, the company found it necessary to implement a variable fuel surcharge of $1 U.S. per person and $2 U.S. per vehicle last June 1 to help cover its increased costs. This was the first time in the company’s history that it implemented a variable fuel surcharge.
The ferry company operates the 49-year-old MV Coho year-round.
