PORT ANGELES — Law enforcement authorities are looking for a Clallam County jail inmate who was inadvertently released from the lockup Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Corrections Deputy Ron Sukert identified the inmate as Lavan A. Lukes, 35, who was being held on a domestic violence assault charge in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Lukes was accidentally released along with several other legally freed inmates following a court appearance, Sukert said.
Peninsula Communications dispatchers were immediately alerted and an attempt-to-locate order, or ATL, was issued.
“Efforts by law enforcement have not yet resulted in Lukes’ return to custody,” Sukert said in a statement today.
“The victims in the Lukes matter have been notified regarding his being back in the community, and a warrant for Lukes’ arrest is being sought by the [Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office].”
Anybody seeing Lukes is asked to contact the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at 360-417-2262 or dial 9-1-1.
