CONCRETE — A small plane that crashed in Skagit County, killing the pilot and injuring two passengers — including a man from Sequim, identified as Craig Foster — had just taken off from the airport in Concrete.
The sheriff’s office says it was headed for the Seattle area Wednesday night when it went down less than five miles away near the community of Birdsview. One resident reported hearing a sputtering engine and another called deputies to report a crash sound.
The sheriff’s office says the pilot was a 71-year-old Bellevue man and the passengers are a 46-year-old Sequim man and 43-year-old Seattle woman. Harborview Medical Center in Seattle reports they are in satisfactory condition, The Associated Press reported.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says the plane was a Stinson 108 built in 1946.
