PORT ANGELES — A six-inch water main broke beneath Liberty Street between Fifth and Sixth streets late this afternoon, sending thousands of gallons of water downhill.
Liberty is on a slope in the area, and the water moved like a river, taking pavement with it, according to witnesses at the scene. The street, which has suffered pavement damage, is closed to traffic.
A resident at Fifth and Liberty said residential water pressure is very low.
