PORT ANGELES — Construction of higher barriers on the two Eighth Street bridges is expected to start July 16 and be finished on or about Sept. 7.
The contractor, Interwest Construction, Inc. of Sequim, is manufacturing portions of the fencing off site and has in recent weeks been out on the bridges measuring, said City Manager Dan McKeen.
During construction, eastbound traffic over both bridges will be closed to traffic 24/7. One lane for westbound traffic will be maintained over the bridges on Eighth Street between Cherry Street and A Street throughout the duration of the project.
Detour signs will be in place, with the speed limit reduced to 20 mph through the work zone, the city said.
No information was available Friday about the detour route.
