Book talk scheduled in Sequim
SEQUIM — The Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., is hosting its April book discussion from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
Registration is not required for the free event; drop-ins are welcome.
April 1865: The Month that Saved America by Jay Winik will be discussed.

Ziegler scholarship
PORT ANGELES — Mason Ziegler Memorial Scholarship nominations now are being accepted for Port Angeles High School 2014 graduates.
Mason Ziegler, for which the scholarship is named, died in August 2012 as a result of a motorcycle accident while vacationing with friends in Oregon.
He was 16.
The scholarship has been established to recognize and support those graduates who share the personal characteristics of compassion, kindness, loyalty and integrity.
The recipient of the scholarship is selected through a letter of nomination process.
A letter should specify why the candidate is deserving of the scholarship, citing specific examples, plus how the candidate will benefit from the scholarship.
Those nominating cannot be related to the candidate.
Grade-point average is considered; however, student conduct and commitment has more overall value. Dedication to sportsmanship will also be considered.
The deadline for submissions is April 30.

Garden scholarship
The Master Gardener Foundation of Washington State is accepting applications for the annual Van Bobbitt Scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship is offered to a high school senior or other student entering college to pursue the study of horticulture and its related fields.
The recipient is determined by the foundation’s scholarship committee.
A person may receive the scholarship only once and must meet the following requirements.
The applicant must be accepted by a recognized accredited college/university and planning a course of study in horticultural, botanical or related fields.

Garden swap set
PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County garden swap will take place in the Fairview Bible Church parking lot, 385 O’Brien Road, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5.
Traders will exchange expert gardening information as well as plant materials.
Many gardeners share plants from the abundance of their gardens.
Cookies and chocolate also are acceptable forms of trade.

Senior meals
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4 p.m. at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.
A suggested donation is $5 for those who are 60 and older.
People younger than 60 can attend for $8.
