Ziegler scholarship

PORT ANGELES — Mason Ziegler Memorial Scholarship nominations now are being accepted for Port Angeles High School 2014 graduates.

Mason Ziegler, for which the scholarship is named, died in August 2012 as a result of a motorcycle accident while vacationing with friends in Oregon.

He was 16.

The scholarship has been established to recognize and support those graduates who share the personal characteristics of compassion, kindness, loyalty and integrity.

The recipient of the scholarship is selected through a letter of nomination process.

A letter should specify why the candidate is deserving of the scholarship, citing specific examples, plus how the candidate will benefit from the scholarship.

Those nominating cannot be related to the candidate.

Grade-point average is considered; however, student conduct and commitment has more overall value. Dedication to sportsmanship will also be considered.

The deadline for submissions is April 30.

Submit letters of nomination to Counselor’s Office, Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
