Rhody talk scheduled in Chimacum
CHIMACUM — The Olympic Peninsula chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will meet at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 3.
Robert Zimmermann of Chimacum Woods Nursery will present “A Tibetan Odyssey: Plant Hunting at the Top of the World.”
He will cover rhododendrons, plants, culture, politics and spirituality in eastern Tibet.
Zimmermann has been running his nursery for 38 years on 18 acres with large propagation facilities and a 7-acre trial garden.
He has traveled to China five times as well as Japan and the East Coast to collect seed.
All interested people are invited, and refreshments will be provided.
Discussion group
SEQUIM — The Great Decisions Discussion Group will discuss “Israel and the U.S.” at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 4.
The cost is free. New members are welcome.
Discussion topics, which concern domestic and foreign policy issues, are taken from the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions 2014 Briefing Book and from Foreign Affairs, the bimonthly publication of the Council on Foreign Relations.
