Unlike other children, this youngster comes with a manual on how to raise him.
Hank, a four-month-old yellow Labrador retriever, is learning to be a guide dog, and his trainer, 12-year-old Laurel Greer of Port Angeles, has the Guide Dogs for the Blind official manual.
In the process, according to Laurel’s mother, Heather, she’s learning how complex it can be to bring up baby.
The Greers are members of Puppy Pilots, the North Olympic Peninsula’s new guide-dog training group.
Laurel, her mother and a handful of other “raisers” – as they’re called in the guide-dog world – gathered recently on Port Angeles City Pier for a session with Michele Cawley, Washington state field representative for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
