Brinnon: 18 months later, community plan ready to review

BRINNON — The hefty tome that’s the draft Brinnon Sub-Area Plan is more than heavy reading — its contents will shape the small town’s destiny for years to come.

The plan is almost ready for public consumption as the Brinnon Sub-Area Planning Group wraps up a year and a half of work. The group will review the draft document at a meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Brinnon School on Schoolhouse Road.

But Planning Group Chairperson Linda Tudor said the document is so comprehensive that the members will likely have to take several weeks to properly digest it. Once final changes are made to the draft document, Tudor said the group will conduct several public meetings to present the plan and take comments.

“We’ll probably hold two community meetings,” she said. “One may be informational and another for comments.”

The plan will be submitted to the Jefferson County commissioners for consideration as a Comprehensive Plan amendment. The hope is that an amendment can be approved by late this fall.
