DISCOVERY BAY — Two Brinnon residents were killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision near the junction of U.S. Highway 101 and Uncas Road.
Richard Al Kindelspire, 62, and his wife, Taylre Kindelspire, 56, were pronounced dead at the wreck by State Patrol troopers just before 10 a.m.
Trooper Krista D. Hedstrom said Richard Kindelspire, who was driving a purple 1993 GMC pickup truck northbound on Highway 101, crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with a 33-foot Ford motor home towing a Saturn sedan at about 9:45 a.m.
Witnesses said the pickup truck veered onto the shoulder for a few yards, then returned to the northbound lane before veering into the path of the motor home, which was traveling south.
“Witnesses we talked to saw [the truck] cross over into the shoulder a few times,” Hedstrom said.
“Then they went into the other lane, where they collided with the motor home.
“One witness said it looked like the driver was reaching for something [inside the cab].”
The driver of the motor home, Linda Joyce Cordova, 66, of Port Orchard sustained a broken foot in the crash and was treated at Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend and discharged.
Both vehicles careened into the ditch on the northbound side of the highway after the crash.
