BRINNON — A short stretch of U.S. Highway 101 was closed for more than two hours Saturday after a mudslide covered the road just south of the Jefferson-Mason county line.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the slide was reported at about 5 p.m. and blocked the highway near milepost 317 in Mason County, three miles south of the county line.
State road crews partially cleared the highway by 7 p.m., opening one lane for traffic, State Patrol Communications Officer Jonathan Pitts said.
Pitts said he expected the highway to be fully reopened by 8 p.m.
