BRINNON — Brinnon Parks and Recreation District commissioners are seeking a replacement for Doug Hixson, who resigned from the commission last month.
Nominations for an appointee to fill his unexpired term will be taken until the next regular meeting of the board at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101.
The board then will evaluate and interview all candidates. It is expected to appoint a new member.
Hixson resigned Feb. 23, effective immediately.
He said his business endeavors required more of his attention and thus he was not able to designate the time required to fully participate as a commissioner.
His term would have ended in 2017.
Remaining on the board are Mary Hjelvik, Joy Baisch and Nicole Black, all of whom will serve through this year; and Bud Schindler, whose term ends in 2017.
Nominees for the unexpired term must be registered voters in the Brinnon area and be present at the commissioners’ next meeting.
Nominations can be made in person at the April 8 meeting or mailed to Parks and Recreation District No. 2, P.O. Box 643, Brinnon, WA 98320.
Each applicant is asked to provide a brief introduction and qualifications for the position.
Commissioners meet the second Wednesday of each month.
