BRINNON — A tax levy for emergency medical services by the local fire district was easily passing in election returns talled Tuesday night.
The results of Proposition 1 in Jefferson County Fire District No. 4 are:
Yes, 366 votes for 73.35 percent.
No, 133 votes for 26.65 percent.
A 60 percent supermajority of yes votes was require for the levy to pass.
The action makes the present assessment of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property valuation permanent.
Fire Chief Patrick Nicholson said earlier that passage ensures continued emergency medical services and professional staff in the southern Jefferson County area that Fire District No. 4 covers.
Brinnon’s all-mail election was the only one scheduled on the North Olympic Peninsula for the local election day.
