Brinnon woman airlifted to Harborview after wreck

BLYN — A Brinnon woman was listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday morning after her Ford Focus collided with a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 101 near the Palo Alto Road intersection on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Susan L. Posner, 35, Brinnon was listed in serious condition in the ICU, Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg wrote in a Wednesday morning email.

The cause was an improper U-turn, according to the State Patrol. Unspecified charges are pending against Posner, the memo said.

Posner was driving a 2007 Ford Focus at about 4:30 p.m. westbound on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 268 in the Blyn area, troopers said in a memo issued Wednesday. A 2024 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck driven by Nina M. Brown, age and city of residence unknown, also was westbound on U.S. Highway 101.

Posner pulled her Focus to the right shoulder to begin a U-turn into the eastbound lanes of the highway, the memo said.

The semi-truck was approaching and struck the Focus as Posner attempted the U-turn.

The Focus came to rest in the westbound lane facing westbound and the semi-truck came to rest in between the eastbound and westbound highway lanes, according to the memo.

It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved, troopers said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The Focus was destroyed. The semi suffered reportable damage.
