Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a workshop regarding broadband development when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The commissioners also will hear an update on COVID-19 and monkeypox from Dr. Allison Berry, health officer for Jefferson and Clallam counties, at 9:45 a.m.

• Conduct a workshop on the KPTZ radio tower and the Morgan Hill emergency transmitter projects.

• Conduct a public hearing regarding adoption of the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails plan.

• Conduct a workshop regarding next steps for the county with the recision of the governor’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

• Conduct a workshop on Open Public Meeting Act guidelines for boards and commissions.

Items on the consent agenda include:

• An interlocal agreement with Clallam and Kitsap counties to have Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization manage funds received through State of Washington v. McKesson Corporation, Cardinal Health Inc. and AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation regionally as the Olympic Opioid Abatement Council.

• A memorandum of agreement with Jefferson County Public Health; Jefferson County Superior Court and Jefferson County District Court regarding therapeutic courts.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement that Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization manage funds received through State of Washington v. McKesson Corporation, Cardinal Health Inc. and AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation for Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties as the Olympic Opioid Abatement Council in their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hybrid meetings are in the county commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

• A recap of volunteer work by the Olympic Peninsula Disc Golf Association at the Rain Shadow Disc Golf Course.

• A resolution adjusting the rental rates of county roads equipment utilized by other departments.

• A resolution extending the closure of Cooper Ranch Road for 30 additional days, ending not later than Nov. 18, to allow culvert replacement.

• A resolution updating the county’s Right of Way procedures for submission to the Department of Transportation’s local program manager.

• Several budget items related to the lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project for discussion Tuesday, Oct. 25.

• Submission of the proposed 2023 budget by the administrator and the chief financial officer.

• Final approval of a three-year contract with the Thurston County Coroner’s Office to host autopsies for Clallam County.

• A notice of a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, regarding the six-year transportation improvement plan.

• Public hearings regarding proposed changes to Policy 220 – Classification, Work Hours and Compensation and on the repeal of county code Chapter 7.01 Junk Dealers – second-hand dealers.

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss the draft 2023 budget when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The commissioners also will consider appointing Sean Worthington to the Clallam County Economic Development Council, discuss the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s response to the district’s draft water mitigation plan and continue discussions on the post-2028 contract with the Bonneville Power Administration.

The Forks City Council will hear a presentation regarding its request to the extend the comment period for entering state trust lands into carbon offset markets when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
