PORT ANGELES –Clallam County Public Utility District General Manager Shelley Burgett is resigning effective June 2 to become comptroller for Snohomish County Public Utility District, Clallam PUD Commission Chairman Will Purser confirmed Tuesday night.
“It was a good opportunity for her,” Purser said.
“We hate to lose her, but people have to make those choices. Shelley has been with the PUD a long time.”
Purser said the PUD commissioners are discussing the method to replace Burgett but haven’t decided.
Burgett said she had another job opportunity and decided to take it for personal and professional reasons.
Burgett was the Clallam district’s treasurer/controller in July 2005 when she appointed as interim general manager to replace General Manager Dennis Bickford.
She continued to do both jobs, and then had “interim” removed from her title last November.
The district has been advertising for a new treasurer/controller for several months.
