PORT HADLOCK — A free landowner workshop will take place at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7.
The Northwest Straits Foundation and Jefferson Marine Resources Committee are sponsoring this workshop on coastal process and erosion management following recent storms and flooding.
The featured speaker is coastal geologist Jim Johannessen, who will share information about how shoreline landowners can protect and maintain their properties.
Workshop topics include erosion management, alternatives to hard shoreline armoring, enhancing beach access and using native vegetation for slope stability and habitat.
The morning workshop presentation will be followed by an afternoon beach walk focusing on coastal bluffs and beach processes.
