The Jefferson County Board of Health recently recognized 26 restaurants for their safe food handling during the past year. Representative from a few businesses

BUSINESS BRIEFS — Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers to offer drop-in clinic June 7 . . . and other local business items

PORT ANGELES — Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers will present the second Law at The Landing at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

Law at The Landing is a free, drop-in legal advice clinic.

It allows members of the public to address legal issues in one-on-one consultations with volunteer lawyers.

Law at The Landing is geared for those financially unable to consult an attorney, but it is open to all to answer legal questions, direct people to local services that might be able to assist them and explain the legal processes.

Turbo Kick teacher

PORT ANGELES — Marnae Flores, health and well-being staff member at the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, recently completed a Yogafit Level 1 certification and Turbo Kick training.

She will teach Turbo Kick, a high-energy style of kickboxing, at the YMCA, 302 S. Francis St.

PORT ANGELES — Massage therapist Bunny Cornwall recently attended a class taught by neuropsychologist John D. Preston on “Developing Positive Emotional Habits.”

The class covered strategies for strengthening healthy emotional habits by applying positive psychology.

Leadership Award

PORT ANGELES — Dr. Scott Kennedy, Olympic Medical Center’s chief medical officer, presented OMC Safety Manager Julie Black with the hospital’s Leadership Award for April.

“Julie exudes enthusiasm and dedication to providing a safe environment for patients and employees at Olympic Medical, and she works very well with others to achieve this result,” Kennedy said.

“She continues to embrace educational opportunities to increase her expertise in the matters of hospital safety and disaster preparedness.”
