PORT ANGELES — Alyeen Carlson of the Clallam Transit System has earned the Certified Municipal Clerk professional designation through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
The clerk certification represents dedication to excellence, course work, examinations, experience, and meeting standards approved by the institute’s education department.
Carlson is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, the Washington Municipal Clerks Association and the Olympic Region Municipal Clerks Association.
Carlson serves as the deputy clerk to the Clallam Transit System’s board under her responsibilities as an administrative and payroll assistant. She has worked in this position since she joined Clallam Transit in December 2006.

Job seekers can attend workshops, meet support agencies, apply for job openings from 9 a.m. to noon, then meet potential employers from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

PORT TOWNSEND — EDC Team Jefferson is offering a business planning course composed of several business-focused classes.
The course will be at the Team Jefferson office, 2410 Washington St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Thursday through May 15.
The cost is $150.
The course will share all the basics of getting started and keeping it going.
Classes cover legal structures, marketing, financing, writing a viable business plan and more.
Team Jefferson also offers “Grow Your Business with Email Marketing” with Frank DePalma, Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“So You Want to Hire Your First Employee” with Gigi Callaizakis & Betsi Farrell is split into two parts.

Agent awarded
PORT ANGELES — Ania Pendergrass was the recipient of two RE/MAX Awards for 2013.
She is the No. 1 RE/MAX agent for closed sales by an individual for the state, and she earned the Platinum Club designation for her third year in a row.
She is the only individual agent on the Peninsula to achieve this, according to a news release.
Pendergrass continues to be a top producer, with 85 sales in 2013 totaling more than $12 million.

PORT ANGELES — Shanelle Silvey is a relatively new hairstylist at Sassy Kat Salon & Clothing Boutique, having worked there for about six months.
She hails from California, where she went to Federico Beauty Institute in Sacramento.
Silvey has had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris and Nice, France.
She has taken advanced education with Nick Arrojo, who taught new razor-cutting techniques, and has had a class with AJF Salon in advanced cutting.
She said she also learned about hair products such as Wella and Goldwell color line, Sebastian, KMS, Davines, Enjoy and Design Essentials.
