PORT TOWNSEND — Liza Mathias has returned to her native Port Townsend to practice at Uptown Dental alongside her childhood dentist, Dr. Steven J. Scharf.
After graduating from Port Townsend High School, Mathias earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology at Whitman College.
She then entered the University of Washington School of Dentistry and was one of eight selected to take part in the Rural Initiatives in Dental Education program, which focuses on bringing awareness and access to care in rural areas.
She graduated second in her class and was granted honorary membership into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, which also awarded her scholarships for three years.
Mathias continued postgraduate work at Idaho State University’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in Boise, where she practiced with specialist mentors in all areas of dentistry.
“This program expanded my procedural knowledge and refined my practice philosophy,” Mathias said.
To schedule an appointment with Mathias, phone Uptown Dental at 360-385-4700.
